Were You a Victim of the Most Recent Ransomware? Waident Clients Were Not!

It seems like every month or so a new virus, spyware, or ransomware infection spreads so wildly that it is all over the news. Security should not just be something your IT offers, it should be something they do every day as a normal part of their business. If it is not, then you should hold your IT to a higher standard or fire them and find someone who “gets it”.

Here is a good article from CIO.com about he most recent ransomware infection that spread across the globe. The reality is that if there was even just a little IT process or oversight happening, all of your machines would be safe and you would have nothing to worry about at all. Unfortunately, like the article points out, IT can often be lax on security or even simple Windows patching.  Budgetary concerns should never be an an excuse not to have security in place since many of these concerns can be addressed by spending very little, if any, money. You just need to focus, pay attention to it all and execute.

WannaCry: Sometimes you can blame the victims

Fortunately, Waident did not have any of its users infected by this rash of ransomware. Proof is in the details that we have been doing the right things to make sure our clients are in good shape. We do not claim to be able to prevent every infection, but situations like this are fairly rare for our clients. Can you say the same thing about your company or your IT?
